 How to Make a Transparent Background for Canva designs | Using Photoshop: 3 Easy Steps

Creating a design with a transparent background can be incredibly useful, especially if you want to use it as a T-shirt design, logo or overlay on other images. Canva is a fantastic online design tool, but it doesn't offer a direct option for creating a transparent background for free. However, there's no need to worry - this tutorial will guide you through a simple process that combines the power of Canva and Photoshop to achieve a transparent background for your design.

Step 1: Change the Background Color in Canva and Download the Design

First, create your design in Canva or open an existing one. To make it easier to remove the background later in Photoshop, change the background color to a unique color that is not present in your design elements. 

This will allow you to easily distinguish between the background and the actual design when using the Magic Wand Tool in the next step.

1.      1- Click on the background of your design in Canva.

2.      2- Choose a unique color from the color palette or enter a custom color code.

3.      3- Once you've changed the background color, click the "Download" button in the top right corner.

4.      4- Click share à Download.

Now you have your design with a unique background color, ready to be opened in Photoshop.

Step 2: Open the Design in Photoshop and Select the Background with the Magic Wand Tool

1.   1- Open Photoshop and go to "File" > "Open" to open your downloaded Canva design.

2.  2- Select the Magic Wand Tool from the toolbar on the left side of the screen (or press "W" on your keyboard).

3.  3- Click on any point of the background color to select it.

4.  4- Right-click on the selected area and choose "Similar" from the context menu. This will ensure that all areas with the background color are selected.

Step 3: Remove the Background and Save the Design as a PNG

1.     1-  With the background area still selected, go to "Edit" in the top menu and choose "Cut" (or press "Ctrl+X" or "Cmd+X" on your keyboard). This will remove the background color, leaving a transparent background.

2.   2- To save your design with a transparent background, go to "File" > "Save As."

3.   3- In the "Save As" dialog, choose "PNG" as the file format.
